Below the water line you will find snook hiding in the mangroves, crabs on the grassy bottom, turtles, dolphins, and a manatee.  Above the water line you will find bird life represented by seagulls, a Sandhill Crane and Roseate Spoonbills. If you look closely maybe you can find the alligators that the artist cleverly hid in the clouds.
The original mural had 4 panels and was painted at the entrance to the old Holiday Inn, which is now the Best Western, in 1998.  It was destroyed by Hurricane “Charley” on August 13, 2004.

The recreation of this mural was dedicated on October 18, 2007.  The new mural was created as a larger composite of 2 of the original 4 panels by the original artist with emphasis on the aquatic and bird life. 

The other 2 panels of the original mural illustrated the Babcock Ranch whose owner also owned the Holiday Inn. These panels depicted cypress and other swamp vegetation, trees with moss and air plants. The animals featured were the endangered Florida panther, along with the alligator, deer, white egrets, anhinga, and frigate bird.
