Punta Gorda Historic Mural Society

Welcome to the Murals of Punta Gorda, Florida!  This site was created by the Punta Gorda Historic Mural Society, (PGHMS), to promote the murals that we’re painting in Punta Gorda. We’re glad you found our new Web Site, and hope you will enjoy it!

Punta Gorda is a small town, with a population of 17,000, on the southwest gulf coast of Florida.  Specifically, we’re located on Charlotte Harbor, just south of the Peace River and west of I-75. Punta Gorda is a retirement community and has been named as one of the Best Places to Live in America, by Money Magazine. (Click here to see map

The PGHMS is a non-profit, 501 c (3), organization whose objectives include the Revitalization, Preservation and Economic Enhancement of our community through the painting of murals that tell about the rich history of our area. We have no paid employees, and the business of the PGHMS is conducted thru a volunteer Board of Directors and Advisors. (Click here to see our History and Boards)

On Friday, August 13, 2004, Hurricane Charley roared ashore in Punta Gorda with winds in excess of 160 mph, destroying among other things, half of the 20 Murals that we had painted since 1995. We are in the process of re-painting these murals, and have the goal of having them all completed, as well as adding new murals, in the next 3 years.

We hope you will bookmark our Mural Home Page, and come back to visit us often, as we update it frequently, with our progress. Better still, if you’re in our area, please stop by and view our murals!
